Default Power outlet

My 2017 has a power outlet in the front and back seat. It says its 400 watts so is that ok to for example, run a shopvac? Or is it mostly useful for an iphone charger? I tried plugging my shopvac in but it did not turn on, i did not know if that requires too much juice?

Unless your truck was running, it was probably powered down. Start your truck and try again.

400 watts is 3.3 amps at 120 volts.... probably not enough for your vacuum unless it's very small. Check the label on the vacuum or whatever you want to plug in the outlet and keep it below 3 amps. I think the outlet was intended for small device chargers, such as for cordless tools.

Most all 120V device list their power consumption...or at minimum the current draw. Stay below the rating of the inverter and you will be fine.

The inverter is good for things like charging cordless tools, laptops, fans, wireless devices. It might be able to run an Xbox and small TV keeping kids entertained on a trip...LoL.

If you go camping, it could power a radio. It will not power a space heater, regular coffee maker, or hair dryer (I'm just giving examples, I don't even use a hairdryer).

A decent Shop Vac will border on 12 amps so hell no.

The outlet has an amber LED that will illuminate when it is active. If it's not on no power is flowing. Your truck needs to be running AND the fob has to be IN the truck if you have push to start. I have no idea why the latter is necessary but I was running LED tripod work lights last week off it and discovered this.
