Default Power Inverter - Traeger Grill

So I bought a Traeger Tailgater to use this year at football tailgates. Does anyone know if the inverter can handle the grill without burning up or causing other issues?

The inverter can in theory handle 400 Watts, which comes out to around 3.3 amps. I feel pretty confident that an electric smoker will pull more than that, there should be a sticker on it where it says how much current and or power it needs.

Traeger uses about 300 watts to get the pellets burning initially then it drops down to 50 watts for the fan once the pellets are lit.

I believe you would have to keep the truck running the whole time you are using the inverter.

This is correct. Truck must be running.

Honestly if those things only pull 50 watts after it gets up to temp, you could easily just get a stand alone deep cycle battery and an 4-5 hundred Watt inverter and run that thing all day long.

better yet.... get a Big Green Egg.... the mini max is very popular for tailgating. Requires no electrical power, and in my opinion, much more versatile and makes way better food!

While BGEs are pretty neat, they are WAY too expensive for what they are. After doing some reading on the traeger and the low power consumption, Im intrigued to say the least. Looks like a neat way to smoke without too much fuss.
