Default Posting pictures w/Plates Showing

Just realizing now after posting some pics of my 16 XLT Sport that most others have somehow concealed or removed their licence plates. Mine are totally visible, is there a reason why people are doing this?

Many people do not want to give away their location or identity. There are placed you can go look up people's information with just as little as a license plate number. LEOs can do it all day long. Hackers can find out all kinds of info on you and possibly even steal your ID if they know who you are or where you live. Privacy is a huge commodity in this day and age.

Aren't there some states that don't require front plates?

I'm listening to this xfiles podcast while rewatching old episodes, and the host goes on to what was basically the "early" internet message boards to read how the episodes were received at the time (early 90's). One of the things he mentions is that people have full names and even addresses in their post signatures and that it's really bizarre to see that.
