2.7 eco

The photo appears to reveal some sloppy assembly at the joining of the air intake fascia pieces on this pre-production vehicle. I noted one of the EcoBoost badges missing from one of the PDX Drive Event XLTs along with other such oversights.

Went today and drove a 3.5 and a 2.7. i was impressed with both. The 3.5 was very impressive. the interior of these trucks is amazing. It rates up with the Ram in my opinion i did find out that you can not turn the v8 sound off on the 3.5. i still want to dirve the 5.0. but i will get a chance i am sure. I love the new brown color and the dark green. I have never been a Ford man but i am fixing to change

Oh man, this is really going to ruffle some feathers. Major fail on Ford's part if this is the case that the lame feature cannot be disabled.

To be fair, you can't turn off the V8 sound on the 5.0 either...

It's actually not that noticeable at all. I like it!

What is sloppy here exactly? You mean the casting like line? Like you said it's PRE production....

I've never understood why preproduction trucks wouldn't be perfect. Wouldn't they be subject to the most scrutiny while being built? I recently read something about how initial mpg tests might not be accurate since preproduction trucks were used. Now why would a preproduction truck get worse or better mileage?

I tried looking and may have missed it, has anyone snapped a pic of what the intercooler setup looks like on the 2015s? I'm curious to see the revisions they made.

Idk on the mpg front I would expect you'd want that perfect for testing. However I think you'd always want any ratings based on final prod product not something hand built. Im sure they can achieve much tighter tolerances through final production when everything is dialed in.

A badge missing or casting line issue like the above doesn't matter and is people scrutinizing a prototype. That truck might have been built to test one specific thing. Youre not gonna scrap that part because it would function fine due to a lil casting line. Think of it as a prototype. Each prototype gets refined. You spend least time on the first and the most on the last. They end up with a bunch of those and then they all get crushed when it's all said and done.
