Lightbulb Pop and Lock Wiring - instructions are wrong

So I just finished installing a Pop & Lock remote lock kit for the cap on my 2018 SCREW Lariat. After much frustration I discovered that the wires listed to tap into in the instructions are incorrect. If anyone else goes down this road, the correct wires are:

Lock: Grey with Brown stripe (there are several of these in the bundle. Any of them will do.)
Unlock: Brown with Green Stripe (there are two of these, use the larger gauge)

The location listed (under the door sill) is correct. (and the harness provided was just long enough to trace the factory harness from the rear, through the firewall, and into the sill with about 6" to spare)

Edit: Vendor just confirmed the change to the wiring.
More frustrating than I thought, but nice to not have the extra key on the keyring

Can you not use the wiring at/in the tailgate since they come with power lock/unlock tailgates now?

You can use the tailgate lock wiring as long as you have a manual tailgate so that there is a lock there to tap into. If you have the electronic/remote tailgate there isn't actually a lock there to tap into. The computer just doesn't send the open signal to the tailgate actuator if it is "locked".

That was what I tried first, the FSM and some exploration set me straight there .

If you do have the manual tailgate with an actual lock, then the wiring would still be the colors I listed though.

Man I've read and re-read this a dozen times and I'm not following it. By an actual lock are you meaning a place to stick your key in it? If a tailgate has an actuator in it, I don't see how it's not getting both lock and unlock signals. I don't have a place to stick a key in my tailgate and if I press lock on the door or keyfob, I hear it activate the actuator in the tailgate, the same for unlock. I guess I need to test the wires inside the harness going to the tailgate. Which sill/kick panel did you find your wires under? On my last truck which was a '13 they were under the right side.

With the remote tailgate the latch is 100% controlled by the computer in the truck. When you press the button on the tailgate, it sends a request to the computer to open the latch. If the computer sees that the doors are unlocked, it un-latches the tailgate. If the computer sees that the doors are locked, no signal is sent to the tailgate to unlatch.

Unlike the rest of the doors, the electronic tailgate doesn't have a physical lock that prevents the opening of the latch when you pull on the handle. Since there is no physical lock, there is no lock or unlock wiring running back to the tailgate, just the computer up front either telling it to open or not.

You can see this for yourself pretty easily if you pull the panel from the upper inside of the tailgate over the latch. (assuming you have an electronic tailgate)

If you have a manual tailgate, there will be a lock circuit near the top of the latch assembly on the passenger side.

The wires I tapped into were under the sill cover at the driver's door. You could also find them in the same spot on the passenger side or leading up the B-pillar on either side going into the rear doors.

Hopefully that clears things up .Trust me, I wasn't happy to dig in a find out I couldn't wire to the tailgate as planned. It was a lot more working getting it up and into the front.
