To answer look yes you can, once de badged and levelled you cannot tell the difference. IMO if you are anywhere where there is 1 chance in 50 you need 4wd buy 4wd, also helps resale. If never get the 2wd but remember resale will not be as easy. Others can maybe refer to your area if you share where in the US you are.

I chose to pass on 4wd cause where I'm at in Georgia stays pretty dry, I never tow anything behind a 12 foot trailer, I never drive anywhere with snow (families in Texas and Florida, lol), plus I was more concerned with less things that can malfunction, more weight, and less mpg all for a option I would never use.

Plus I Had a 4WD Nissan hardbody when I was a teen. I had zero self control when going to the off-road spots me and my buddies would go to, so I was always breaking stuff, lol.

I bought a brand new 4x2, 2001 Toyota Sequoia for my wife (14 years ago). We still have it and she LOVES it, quite possibly, more than me.

We lived in FL when we purchased it and it's flat, no snow, and we never towed anything significant. Well after 14 years, I've caught myself wanting 4x4 on quite a few occasions. There are times when we are driving on the beach, on a back road with a lot of rain (mud) to visit friends, then 6 years into ownership I got a job offer in Virginia that was too good to pass up. Now we have snow to deal with and we NEVER take her big, rear wheel drive SUV out in the snow because it would get stuck way too easily.

Between the higher resale value and not knowing the future, my guess is you would never regret getting the 4x4, but you might regret not getting it. YMMV

4x4 is like a car / home insurance... you never need it until sh&t hits the fan, then you are glad you have it and paid for it (if it works )
