Default Plastic above tailgate step

Sooo, after 3 years, mine fell off. Anyone just get a new one? Does it just snap back on? I'm thinking there may be retaining clips that held the old one in place that are broken.

Mine has come off before when my foot slipped off the step coming out of the bed. It just snapped back on, so I assume it's just held in with some clips.

My step cover came loose the other day. I just pushed it back on. There are not any metal clips like you find with the interior parts. there are just plastic protrusions that press fit into the corresponding metal holes in the step.

i bought one, it just snaps in and has a couple plastic push pins, not really worth the 105 bucks it cost for the part.
