Default Phone problem, or mic?

ately, most people that I talk to via the truck/sync say that my phone transmissions are choppy, fade in and out and are simply hard to understand what I am saying.
I did replace the APIM recently while troubleshooting a backup camera problem, but I am not clear if this problem was there before the replacement.
Could this be a bad microphone? Bad APIM? Where exactly is the microphone, and is there a history of mic failures in these trucks?

It's a 2016 F-150XLT
5.0 Flex fuel/4WD
Sync 4.3
Thanks in advance for any info.

If the problem is the microphone, this would be the first time I've seen it. What hardware does the truck have (4.3" or 8") and what software (Sync version and build) are you running?
What phone are you using and its software version?

The microphone is located in the overhead panel.

I had an issue for a while with my phone connections going bad after a while. I could hear the other party fine, but they said my end was choppy and distorted. I think it was a Sync issue... eventually the problem went away.

It also could be a pairing problem. I'd delete the phone from Sync, deleteF150 from phone, power cycle, and re-pair. I'd also make sure I was current on all updates, truck and phone.
