Phone as a Key
The new 2020s have the new Phone as a Key system. I just read about it and remembered seeing the term in the forscan spreadsheet. I am going to upgrade sync 2 to sync 3 and it looks like the Sync 3 APIM might already have the ability. Does anyone know more about the system? Does it require more then just the APIM? This would be a really cool feature to add.

Probably not Ford Connect. More likely the digital key that Hyundai already has out. With SIM theft/hijack, etc., not sure I'm a fan of this technology yet. I'll be convinced watching the early adopters.

From what I understand about it from the Aviator, it uses FordPass Connect to know if your vehicle is authorized and if you are nearby. Once you get into what's aptly named "The Lincoln Embrace", it'll use the Bluetooth from the APIM to connect to the FordPass/Lincoln Way app to authenticate.
There's blocks in the APIM to enable PAAK and BSP, but you have to be on the 2020 Firmware with 3.4 on your APIM.
The Mach-E will have PAAK, so hopefully it should be too hard to add in.

And Ford has found a new use for the old 1980's door keypad. On Lincolns with the feature in case you lose your phone or have a dead battery you can still get in the vehicle and start it with the keypad code. Unlock the door with the traditional keypad on the door and when you get in the screen will prompt you to enter the code again to start the engine.

Ford Connect works with FordPass and is anything but discontinued.
Flashing the apim firmware requires a test build of Forscan and either a j2354 flasher or an obdlink ex/mx. Wired is strongly recommended
