Payload Question
I'm surprised he gave he current gen that much credit since he's usually running around telling people that payload is the limiting factor for towing (sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't...less likely with the current gen than the previous).
My 302a XLT Sport FX4 has a payload of 1818lb. Ditch the 'sport' package and drop down to 301a and it's probably north of 1900...and that's a SCrew. A SCab should be better.
Man, it was hard typing SCrew instead of doublecab, been spending too much time on Tacoma forums (and boy do they like to **** on Fords)...still have the F150 but have a Tacoma for my wife to drive now too...
I believe the sport package is lighter by a hair due to the console vs jump seat. Nothing else in the package makes it a different weight than a chrome package truck, and the springs/shocks aren't different, so there's no reason for a different payload based on chrome vs sport, or even nothing vs chrome/sport. The 301a vs 302a is a difference because of the extra seat motors and a few other things, but not 82lbs worth of stuff.

I think Tacomas are the nicest trucks out there ... cough, cough... after 150s , of course!! I like a lot the aggressive look they have, especially in that very light grey colour!. Never been in one, so is it a sweet ride too?
To the OP, as someone stated, you don't have a fluffy Cadillac on steroids, you have the real Schwarzenegger of the trucks - use it as a truck within the limits!
A few extra pounds once in a while is not going to stress it.
I'm not understanding all the FX4 talk on this subject. FX4 is an added plastic button,2 stickers, locking differential, off-road tuned front shocks, and a couple of plastic skid plates. All F150's have a rear differential and front shocks. I seriously doubt that all FX4 package add-ons could weigh anymore than 20lbs compared to a regular 4X4. So FX4 package can't really have any substantial affect on payload.
