Patch/Plug tire?
Patch and plug is the proper way
Tech Note: The "plug" is not what actually holds the air in for a proper repair. That is there to keep water and other debris from getting in and rusting and damaging the internal steel belts. The patch on the inside is what keeps the air from leaking.

I'd buy part of that for a dollar.
I have nothing against plugs until you put then in DOT R series tires. (street legal racing tires) - short of that. I like the plug and patch method too.
But depending on the patch event he patch only method is fine.. Some patches are meant to be put in with a glue/sealant compound that will squeeze out of the tear in the tire and also seal up any openings. once airpressue is applied.
So eitherway but that tire is fine for repair. Is it actually leaking I didn't read that part. with a larger terrain tire it is possible to grab crap that sticks in the treads good but doesn't puncture the ring.

A while back i took my Jeep to the local tire shop to have a slow leak repaired on one of the tires.
Got to talking to the shop owner on the subject of plugs.
He said it was illegal for a tire shop to use plugs these days.
Surprised i asked why as i've been known to use a plug or two many years ago.
He showed me an official State (maybe it was Federal don't remember) document which clearly supported this.
That document did go on to say that plugs can be used temporarily in emergencies or off roading situations but must be permanently replaced later with a patch.

Plugs are to get you home and a patch is for a permanent fix.
Plugs have fallen out of favor because in some cases they can allow a pathway for air to travel up the side of the plug and in-between the plys. This can result in a blowout. I have used them without problem for thousands of miles, and I know that millions have been used without problem.
With that said, get it patched and don't worry about it again.

OP, it may not be all the way through, you never know. Maybe it's just slightly sticking in there?. Happened to me before, I just said oh look at this screw..... Pulled it out and drove car until tires were toast.
I had mine patched and plugged at a Black's tire & auto for $25. Still going down the road just fine. I would have taken it to Discount Tire, but unfortunately, I wasn't near one at the time.
It is slowly leaking...I called a few local shops today and they said they either plug or patch but they don't do both together so I am taking it to a Firestone shop about 30 miles away. I also emailed tirebuyer.com, which is where I bought the tires to see if I got road hazards, I don't think I did, but not sure...I'll report back my findings...
