Default Passenger Side CV Axle

Hi All,

The passenger side cv axle on my ‘15 is clunking around so now I’m in the middle of swapping it out but am having a heck of a time trying to get the broken one off.

Does anyone have an tips on how to do so? I hit with a wooden block/hammer combo and the differential shaft started to slide out.

Thanks. I’ve seen that procedure, but even the pry bar starts to pull out the differential shaft

The spline in the halfshaft may be too corroded to let loose. You may end up having to remove the stub shaft with the halfshaft and use some extra persuasion on the workbench vise to separate them. Just be careful pulling the whole thing out of the differential tube not to damage the tube seal. It might actually be a good thing to change the seal out anyway. The stub shaft can be pulled with the halfshaft. It won't cause any additional issues. Then some gentle heat might help release the spline. This is what the tube shaft looks like.

Thanks for the help. I wound up soaking it with some rust penetrator and was able to get it off with a block and hammer.
