Default Painted wheels

My 6”BDS coilover kit should be here in a couple weeks and I’m ready to pull the trigger on wheels and tires now. Was looking at the platinum Fuel Contras but I asked them if they were powdercoated or painted and was surprised when they said all of their wheels were painted with “durable automotive quality paint….”blah blah blah. I questioned them on the durability of any paint process but it is what it is.

I’ve never had aftermarket wheels on any vehicle so I have to ask, is this normal and should I be concerned? I don’t want to drop $2k on wheels to have paint chips and issues a year later… I don’t wheel like crazy but I also don’t want to be scared of everything and need to keep brake dust off and all that.

Ceramic coat them if they’re gloss finish. If you were planning on getting the flat black ones, they will look like *** within a year. I have never seen a set of flat black wheels not look horrible after a short period of time

I've had a few sets of painted Fuel wheels and they held up fine through a few Maine winters.

Thanks! Seems like such a risky thing for me with rock chips and other physical abuse like road salt… I’m in Rhode Island.
