I know since I bought truck and washed it I have 3 dust spots on roof from factory. First time I washed it at about 800 miles I had 1 gravel nick on front fender. Today I washed it and I have 2 gravel nicks on front fender and 2 on front door within a inch apart. 1 on passenger side. The dust particles are on roof is to the same side as the knicks which do look like rock knicks. I do have a gravel parking spot but paved rd to work for the 1.2 miles I drive it. Does anyone have similar amount of rock knicks at 2600 miles or is this a paint quality issue? Thanks guys you are great help.

It's not the paint, it's the environment you're driving in.

The paint on my 15 is as thin as any paint I have ever seen in my 52 years....

It is magnetic gray and was assembled in Kansas City fwiw.

For example I had a white 03 Ford Ranger before and the clearcoat alone was probably twice as thick as both layers on this new vehicle.

Thanks to you guys for your reply. It's in town driving. My last vehicle only had one spot. The other ride we have is a 2015 explorer about 4600 miles. So far so good minus a buggy ding... Haha.

seems the paint gets thinner each year on all vehicles.... EPA standards and I'm sure cost....

Paint protection film will be your friend... got a quote for about $750 or so to do 22" of the hood, painted surfaces on bumper (platinum), true chrome portion on grill, headlights, sideview mirrors..... I want to do some paint correction & apply a nano-coating before I can get the PPF applied, but I was cringing today on the highway when behind a truck and heard small road grit bouncing off the truck.... I let another car take point in between me and that truck

I guess where I am so picky I could hear water dripping down the passenger side a pillar like a dropper, fortunate after all day rain it was outside making dripping sound , I couldn't find no trace of water inside . Long story short while I was checking it out I bumped the door and hit my fence and scratched the edge of the passenger side door. Karma for being so picky. Haha.
