Default Paint Bubbling and Erroding

Have a Ford f150 2016 XLT and only have 30,000 miles on the odometer. When hand washing my car during the pandemic I noticed paint chipped away and bubbled on my roof worse on one side than the other. Also my wheel paint has started to do the same too. Anyone seen this before? I tried to make a claim and its just outside of the 3 year warranty go figure. Any ideas?

Basic warranty is that the paint is warranted for the first 12 months of ownership. Corrosion is warranty covered for 5 years unlimited mileage. I would take it by your dealership and let them tell you what can be done under warranty.

My daughters Explorer suffered from paint bubbling and corrosion and was taken care of with just under 36K on the odometer.

I have those exact wheels. Same year 2016. Mine are doing that to. Not as bad as yours but they are starting. The paint on the roof is on the seam sealer. Looks like the seam sealer peeled away removing the paint. It's only my rear wheels.

Did Ford fix it for you and pay for the cost? They are not willing to do mine. I am just over the 3 year warranty they said and only have 30k miles. Is an issue that has been there since the start no way that happens just over a short period of time.

I love the wheels too but a shame they have done this. Have you taken up with Ford about it?

As for the roof...(I think its the roof)...give it a light sanding in the groove, and then fill it with a good quality 3M sealant caulking.

As for the wheels...theres no easy fix. Get them all sandblasted, and then powder-coated in a colour you like.

Ford paid for it in full with 35,978 miles on the odometer. Matter of fact where the paint was bubbling on the front edge of the hood they ordered in and replaced the entire hood.
If the paint is bubbling due to the metal corroding it should be covered under the corrosion warranty as noted in the warranty owners guide for a period of 5 years unlimited mileage.
