Default P0430

Hi guys,

I bought a new to me ‘15 Platinum with the ecoboost. I noticed a squeaking noise during hard acceleration only and I’m assuming the exhaust manifold is leaking. Could a leaking manifold cause P0430? I noticed the catalytic converter was relaxed according to carfax so a shop must have misdiagnosed it.

Thank you

Yes it is possible that a leak could cause the DTC. Fix the leak, reset the DTCs and test drive. If it comes back then it could be the downstream O2 sensor. If the cat was so contaminated that it had to be replaced, it is likely the downstream O2 sensor got damaged as well. A leaking fuel injector could also cause the code, but that is a lot harder to diagnose and fix. If the code comes back after fixing the exhaust leak, I'd change out the downstream O2 sensor, reset the DTCs, and take it for a test drive.
