Default P0018 After Cam Phaser Replacement

P0018. I have a 2018 Ford F150 3.5l ecoboost with 48k miles on it. Truck ran perfect with no issues other than the cold start rattle and a tapping at idle from the cam phasers also. No error codes or any problems, other than the damn plastic oil pan leaking.
I Replaced all 4 cam phasers. Not the chain as it only has 48000 miles on it. When trying to remove the intake phaser on bank 2 the bolt stripped and I had to drill the head off to get it out. No problem doing that and everything seemed fine. I used the cam alignment tool. Bank 1 tool didn't really fit on all of the way, when bank 2 tool was locked in also, but all of the marks are lined up perfectly. When I started it up, it ran smooth for a second and then had a bit of a rough idle. Now my tuner shows code P0018, camshaft and crankshaft misalignment on Bank 2 Sensor A. My diagnostic computer also showed P052C, camshaft over advanced during cold start up. could this be a bad intake phaser on bank 2 or could it be because that alignment tool wasn't down all the way, even though all of the marks ligned up perfectly? Or something else? Additionally, what is the little sensor at the bottom front of the engine by the crank? It goes through the timing cover on the bottom. I guess it's not the crank sensor. It felt wobbly and loose, but seemed ok. Not sure if that is normal.

Default Same issue

I see no other responses, have you learned anything? I have the same issue, replaced my phasers, all seemed good, and alignment similar, even took pictures to remind myself I had the timing points aligned. Same codes and runs a little rough at idle.

If you changed Phasers and getting code P 052C, this code says cold start Crank-Cam alignment is the likely cause.
The alignment is off >before the engine even starts< and oil pressure was not up, yet. Mechanical!
Good luck.

I was afraid of that, the forscan shows around a negative -17 degrees on Bank 2 Intake Angle - just not sure how the timing got off based on using the alignment points, even took pictures since my memory is so bad and I knew I'd doubt myself. At least the start rattle isn't there anymore....really didn't want to basically do the whole process over again... Thanks!

Bluegrass, Thank you so much for the info! I forgot to ask one question - thoughts on how long I can live with this mis-alignment without damage? Just trying to plan my time and schedule, to tear it all down again and seems like it's a 1 tooth move. Thank you again!

The possibility is the Exhaust valves could contact the pistons under some timing shift attempt by the Program.
You take to big a risk running it that way fora big time damage result.
Look up how to time this engine and be sure you understand it before assembly.
Good luck.

It was a misalignment. The pins on the phasers didn't line up and I tightened them anyway. Luckily it didn't damage anything. I took it back apart and installed correctly. No more issues.
