P-2450 code
So, I've done some reading through other threads about the P-2450 trouble code for "Evaporative Emission System Switching Valve Performance/Stuck Open". Mine came on recently at about 31K miles on 7/24. I've seen the TSB article, etc.... Mine is a pre-10/5/15 build date as well.
I couldn't get an appointment to get it into the dealer to pull the code so I took it to a mechanic I know well and had them pull it for me (guess I should probably just get a code reader?). Anyway, once I had the code I called and talked to the dealer and set an appointment for next Monday Aug 7th to have them diagnose, etc.... After talking to both, it sounded safe to continue driving in the meantime.
Anyway as I was headed up into the mountains this weekend I looked down to check my speed as I was speeding up to pass someone and noticed it went off. So far after the trip home and driving it today, it has stayed off.
Is this common? Could something other than the valve going bad have caused the code in the first place? I thought I read something about bad gas somewhere..... but the truck seemed to be running fine otherwise and I've had bad gas before (haven't we all....) so I think I'd recognize it again.
Should I do anything? I assume there's no point in keeping my appointment as now there is no trouble code to pull or issue to diagnose? If I do cancel I may just wait a few days to make sure it doesn't come back on first.
