Outdoor Temp
I have a 2020 F150 Lariat. How often does the outdoor temperature update itself. Seems I get in mine, sitting on warm blacktop so the reading seems high, takes a long time driving to get a more accurate display. Earlier i went and moved truck. Temp said 57, it's cloudy and 45 outside. I'm guessing that was from yesterday .
How does yours work? Wondering if I have an issue?

My ex 2013, and 2019 seem spot on for accuracy. Kudos to FMC for that. As far as responsiveness, maybe takes a few minutes (from sitting on a hot parking lot) to adjust to the current temperature.
As far as updating frequency, no scientific analysis, other than I've seen it change every 2 minutes or so.

From the WSM:
The Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor is an input to the PCM. The PCM sends raw ambient air temperature data to the FCIM. The FCIM filters the raw data, sends it to the APIM and the touchscreen displays the outside temperature.
...to update the filtered data or perform the multiple button press reset procedure to update to the current raw value.
The multiple button reset for the Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor is as follows:
Its this filtering which causes the delay. I have read somewhere that the filtering is done to prevent the temperature from changing every time you drive from sun to shade, etc., but I can't remember where I read that, nor whether it was a reliable source or not. The WSM explains the above 2-button reset which needs to be performed multiple times to update the temperature displayed.

The multiple button reset for the Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor is as follows:
- On the HVAC panel controls, press the A/C and Recirc buttons simultaneously, then, release both.
- Within 2 seconds press the A/C button again.

The reading wont update sitting in the driveway you have to be moving for about 3 minutes then it will start updating as normal. Ford did this to keep the temp sensors from getting to high due to excessive heat buildup when sitting still and give false readings. I had a 2008 that after sitting and idling for a certain period of time the temp sensor would go crazy and start dropping to -20 which in turn would cause my heater to come on full blast even when it was 90 outside.
Those things update VERY slowly, I guess to avoid being all over the place. It takes several miles to adjust from my garage to the real outside temperature, but once updated, it's pretty accurate. The good news is the sensor is under the passenger mirror on my truck (I think since '17 or '18. Mine is '18), so it doesn't go crazy high when parked, like when near the engine. Therefore, it shows actual temperature after being parked under the sun relatively quickly. My take is if the sensor shows real temperature after a while, there's nothing wrong with the sensor. Good luck.
