Default Out with the 2015, in with the 2014

I've purchased my lariat fresh off the truck in April last year. I waited impatiently checking COTUS checking to see where it was at in the build process. It was a lariat sport with the 2.7l, 4x4. At first loved my truck, first issue was seat leather looked awful and had them look at it during the steering shaft recall, and since that first trip in May my trucks been in for 13 seperate issues and over 40 days in a loaner as it was being repaired. I been listening to my roof rattle for 12,000 miles, door rattle/wind noise and various other quality issues with seats. Pretty much everything well known by us owners.

I been working with ford CSM and honestly my rep was useless, would promise follows ups and never follow up, close my cases because the dealer said they fixed it but never confirmed with me that it was fixed. Promised an extended warranty and never sent the contract. I was patient, finally IWE went out when out of town and final straw, called ford requested buy back they denied it. Said it didn't qualify for their purposes because even though the roofs been in 5 times they haven't attempted a fix in there eyes enough. Also they could care less if you don't have your vehicle for 1.5 months.

Dealer hasn't been helpful either, they new I was constantly in there, my service manager even joked I was in the loaner more then my truck. Really not funny.

Long story short had enough called a lawyer started the lemon law process. Was told it could take a few weeks to a year depending on how much ford wanted to fight it. Decided I was done, no more wasting time with reps, lawyers etc, took it to carmax and walked away.

Sad I really loved the truck at first, I've had plenty of cars, many crappy, only one car in the 14 I've owned has made me want to get rid of it due to failure. My first car a $500 escort who's front brakes failed on the highway. Sad when a truck that stickers at $53,000 has such poor quality and a manufacture unwilling to correct the issues that it leads you to hate driving it and selling it 11 months after waiting for it.

I know most people will never have a whole host of issues such as myself, but I wish you all luck. A lot of mine took time to develop, like the moon roof rattle, 4A transfer case whine, IWE Failure, rattle/wind from drivers door. Others were immediate cooled seats, crappy leather etc.

Decided to look at other Brands, test drove all the GM models, Dodge Ram sport, Tundra Trd and decided on going back to a 2014 F150. I loved my 2011, very few problems with it.

My first drive home in it that wasn't full of constant rattles and wind noise in months.

I don't fault you at all, and wish you the best of luck. I was this close to trading mine in on a Yukon because of the door issue and poor dealer service, but luckily just fixed the issue myself. The 2009-2014s are great trucks and I'm sure you'll love it!

That's a tough story to read and I sympathize. I flip-flopped back on forth between a new Ram EcoDiesel and the F-150 for many weeks. The only reason the Ram lost was my lack of confidence in it not having long term issues like the problems you described. Dodge/Chrysler quality and support have always been suspect to me...just a personal gut feeling.

Trucks are a big investment so we expect near perfection. I had a 2012 Lariat and it was a great truck, no problems at all. Luckily, my 2016 Lariat has also been great with no noise, door latch, moon roof, MPG, etc. issues that folks talk about on the forum. Good luck with the 2014, great choice.

As much as I love my truck, I have to say the quality control issues have been giving me a headache. Electronic issues, like the window going down by itself..Center console not opening, glove box not shutting correctly, harsh downshift 5-4 (to be fair..my 2008 had this as well), my door fitment looking like ****, my supercab door broken until march.

But I actually expected this, being a new model year with the aluminum bodies and a lot of additional electronics added to the truck. When you throw the kitchen sink into something you can expect a few things to go wrong..But I'm glad your happy with your 2014

Mo Parts, Mo Problems

We bought a new Yukon XL SLT last year and the wife loves it. I like my new Lariat better in many ways but no regrets getting the Yukon for a family hauler.

And this is the risk you take buying a first year of a new model generation.

Yep ^^^. I had an early build 2011 6.7 F350, and it was nothing but problems.
