Ordering New 2016
Hey guys, I will be ordering a new 2016 here soon and I had a couple of quick questions!
I am building a supercrew xlt 4x4 2.7 Sport. I have done a lot of research on the forums and other places, and feel that the 2.7 fits me best. I have a long commute to work and I am looking for the best MPG and comfort. I do not plan on towing anything at this point, but I hope to get a ski boat in the future. Nothing crazy. I am trying to decide on a few different packages right now.
I plan on getting the Trailer Tow Package.
Includes:
• 4-pin/7-pin wiring harness
• Auxiliary transmission oil cooler
• Class IV trailer hitch receiver
• Smart Trailer Tow Connector
• Upgraded front stabilizer bar
I am wondering if going with the Max Payload package is worth it. It moves towing from 7600 lbs to 8100 lbs
• 3.73 Electronic-locking rear axle
• 9.75-inch gearset
• Mechanical Parking Brake
Will I probably need this to tow a ski boat? Will it help? Also will the 3.73 hurt gas mileage? I have read a lot about the rear axles but still haven't found a definite answer. would I be best just upgrading to the 3.55 elock rear axle. Again, I don't have much to tow but when I do I want to make sure I don't screw this up.
I am also interested in the FX4 Package. I do a little bit of camping and hope to in the future when my 10month boy gets older to do a lot more. But I see that this package has a sports tuned suspension. Does this make the ride harsher?
I have been following the tracking thread on how long it takes from order to receive the vehicle but does anyone have recent input on how long they think it will take if I order it in the next week or so? I'm hoping that when I receive the vehicle they have some better rebates than $500 that they currently have.
I also will be trading in a vehicle. How have you guys gone about trading in a vehicle when your ordering? I want to maximize what I'm getting on my trade. Can we negotiate it now? or do we have to wait till the vehicle comes in? I don't want them to think that because I ordered it they can low ball me on the trade in. I am also A-plan so there is no negotiating on the price of the f150.
Thanks for all the input, I appreciate it in advance. I look forward to joining the F150 club.

It comes with off road tuned shocks and plastic skid plates and a sticker ( most already have a locking diff ) but the FX4 package adds the locker. Most people buy RCI skid plates aftermarket because they are steel and protect more and a lot better
Ok awesome. Thanks I didn't know that.

The dealership was anticipating the truck by month end. I was trying to time the delivery so that it hot with the Presidents weekend sales...because I too am looking for a little more than the $500 rebate.
Don't know if you did this already, but I went on Ford.com and gave my info and they mailed me a $1000 rebate for a purchase.
As for a trade I initially negotiated a price because they were looking for a 2015. But since I went with ordering a '16 they said that we would discuss the trade at delivery but assuming the re-evaluation is is clean and I didn't put 1000's of miles on it the original price they gave would still be good.
Good luck with your decision!
Ski boats are super light and add no aerodynamic drag. You don't need the towing package. Just the cheapest one. And with the 3.31 gears. Nooooothing more you could even go with the lightest gears and be fine. I think the 3.15 but you can't get a rear locker or the fx4 package with those gears. Especially if 90% of the time you want mpg.
