Default Oil temperature

I have a 2017 Limited Eco Boost 3.5 with 62,000 miles. On a 450 mile trip, I experienced read outs of 226-232 degrees above the oil pressure gauge. It would stay on for about a minute, then go away, but always come back. Outside temps were 90 degrees and I was cruising at 72 miles per hour. Any thoughts on if this is normal?
Thanks in advance

I'm not aware of any oil temperature sensors on the 3.5. Do you have a picture of the gauge with the number above it? The 2018 gauges can show numbers for engine coolant temp and trans fluid temp, like this:

Are you referring to the trans temp for the gauge on the far right? If so, that is still high for the trans especially for interstate speeds.

I guess it is the 2nd gauge from the left, which is probably the radiator temp...correct? Maybe time to change the anti freeze and put a new thermostat in.

Yeah, that is the inferred water temp from the head temperature reading. The F150s dont have a conventional water temp reading like back in the day.

Looks like its time for some new coolant and thermostat. Make sure you get the new type of coolant.

And the correct OEM thermostat. People have reported overheating problems with anything other than the Ford thermostat.

Diesel and 2.7 have coolant temp sensors. 5.0 and 3.5 use CHT.
