I had issues with the 6 speed in my 2014 so I'm not crazy about that transmission anymore.

i dont need to make a point. The op asked a question and i answered part of it. There is no requirement for me to qualify my answer with proof or to meet some standard in my answer. Take it or leave it.

Totally forgot about this until this afternoon when I was reading something else.
On the Mustangs I know a lot of people put on the oil separators because of the PCV system- on mine, there was so much crap in the manifold shortly after I got it that it was throwing a code for low idle. Had to pull the throttle body to clean it and the back was caked with oily gunk, so I've had an oil separator on it ever since.
I'm assuming the new 5.0 is no different- what are you guys running, and which side is the one you definitely need the separator for, driver's side or passenger side?

If you ever hear a guy saying ''Oh man, I wish I had installed a catch can, that way my engine wouldn't have blown up...'' please let me know!

I dunno you guys interpreted that differently than I meant it.
Like I said- after getting a code and pulling the throttle body off my 4.6 and seeing all the black gunk buildup on the back of the throttle blade...maybe it's not a must have, but it's a pretty damn good idea. The one on my Mustang picks up a ton of oil.

If it would be a MUST-HAVE, then Ford engineers would have put one. You're not paying 50k for a vehicle that need extra components when leaving the dealership lot...

And you live in the dream world of you think the best of the best comes from the manufacturer. These vehicles are built for everyone so yes added and modified parts are needed for those that drive or take care of their cars outside the norm.
Ford even makes a catch can for other vehicles!

Cant dump it on the ground (EPA would have a field day). Stick it back into the intake. Costs the MFR much less than a catch can setup. Most consumers don't even know what it is. If you never personally work on your own engine you won't notice it ether. Or maybe your wallet will when your IMRC malfunctions because it's caked up with garbage and then they (the manufacturer) sells you a new manifold (and charges labor) to replace it. More $ for them all around and no other option due to regulation and liability.
Same reason why the factory exhaust isnt SS. Every bolt susceptible to the elements isn't zinc plated and covered in lock-tite or anti-seize. Transmission pan doesn't have a drain bolt. Some are regulation other are $$$. Just because the factory doesn't do something doesn't mean that it isn't worth doing.
