Year and engine?

It looks like plastic. The only plastic in the engine would be the timing chain tensioner and guides.

It’s on a2019. That’s what I was thinking but still trying to figure it out. Got the oil changed and after about 70 miles it started smoking and burning ALL the oil out.

Probably something with the timing chain guides...... I could be wrong..... Just a quick guess. How could it get through the oil pump screen, and gears to end up in the oil filter?

Might want to have it towed to a shop. Could be the difference between the engine surviving or not. Motor could be fine, or not as we speak though. Good luck.

Edit: Did a shop change the oil? If so seems that it is possible they did not put the proper oil amount in?

Be careful about how you handle a shop having worked on it vs you having a major issue. Or maybe you changed it and things were done OK? Then maybe just a failure.

according to google AI-The image shows a gloved hand holding a honey bee covered in Varroa mites. that looks nothing like a timing chain guide as far as I can tell

Assuming its a 3.0L Powerstroke based on your screen name.

The only other source of plastic in the engine could be the crankcase vent oil separator, but I have no idea what the internals look like. Either way, the oil pickup tube is close to the front of the lower oil pan. Not much room for pieces that size to break through the mesh pickup screen and run through the oil pump.

The oil lose is most likely from the the oil pump, if that plastic went through it. Its the lower, front engine cover, directly behind the harmonic balancer. Hopefully the filter did its job and protected the rest of the engine, long block was $16k last time i looked.

Whatever it is, it looks man made. Definitely not natural.
