Default Oil Change Access Panel ?

I did a quick search of the forum, but didn't find anything matching... so I figured I'd just ask.

While it isn't really that big of a deal to remove the protective cover from underneath the engine, I was wondering if anyone had fabricated an "access panel" for draining their crankcase. Seems like it would be pretty easy to do, just thought I would see if someone already done it before starting the process from scratch.

I have the 2.7L ecoboost and when the oil comes out it comes out hard. so I'd have to cut quite a long access panel to keep from getting oil on the panel while changing. it might compromise the rigidity of the panel in general.

so no I've not thought about it much beyond that. OH and my oil filter is on top of the engine.

Much better to remove it man. I have the 3.5EB, which requires removing TWO panels, due to a spin-on filter more to the front of the engine. Take the time to check if you have any leaks and such. Good luck.

I'm lazy so I even use a driver to take mine off. I sort of which ford had used some 1/4 turn fastener device for the rear aero panel but such is life.
