oil change

There's been lots of discussion about this. Check your Owner's manual -- it probably says it's due at 10,000 miles or when the Oil Life Monitor recommends. There really is little to no end-user break-in for modern engines. They are almost all run-in at the factory before being installed.
But I think most people are still making their first oil change early, just for peace-of-mind (and maybe old habits that die hard). I do my first change around 3,000 miles, and still can't bring myself to go beyond 65-75% of the recommended mileage for subsequent changes, even if my usage has been pretty mild/normal.

At some point before 10k miles.
I think a lot do it around 3k, some even earlier. I did my first change around 3500 as that's when I was in the shop working on other projects. I'm at 12.5k now and will do it in the next day or two (though I've been saying that for a month).

Forget the owners manual and forget the oil life monitor!
Take this advice from a 6 year old ecoboost owner who has replaced two timing chains.
Change your oil after the first 2000 miles then every 3500 after that...
and read up on the link above!

Did my 2017 2.7L at 98xx the first time, then 198xx the second time. First time with Mobil 1 and a k&n oil filter cartridge (no one had the motocrafs in stock). Second time with penzoil ultra platinum and a ford oil filter cartridge. I go by the OLM and keep my receipts and maintenance logs.
