Oh holy heavenly mother help me in my temptation...
So as most know my old man is a finance guy in a large ford/lincoln dealer. I was picking him up and my rig earlier for oil change/maintenance/yadda yadda and was talking up to some sales guys about their stock of '18s, the GT350 allocation numbers and other related car stuff.
In talking about the orders now being open for '18s, I asked if they were glad they got rid of their old inventory. To my surprise he mentioned he still has (12) '16s (F-150s, they have tons of other products, about 40 or so total).
So curiosity killed the cat and went to their back lot and saw a poor soul, abandoned way in the back, in a corner.
Long story short, this poor bastard (the truck) is a 16 Plat with everything, stickers for 64844, they offered it to me for 45K. That's a ridiculous 30.6% off sticker.
I checked the VIN and found its an early build (March '16) and will probably need new tires (one looked like it had seen much better days), new battery and who knows what.
Like a little b*tch i grabbed my keys and hightailed it out of there.
Asked my old man if they would offer NADA for the trade or go wholesale, since they have so much inventory. Said they would probably offer a tad over wholesale (not good at all), keep it on the lot for a couple of weeks then send it to auction. I really don't feel like loosing whatever equity I have on the truck (which is about 6K, and dropping fast) for a 16. Admittedly its a massive upgrade from my 302, despite all the upgrades I've done.
Time to crack open another Shiner.

If you get a 16 Plat everything, you won't be able to add anything and it will already have Sync 3 !? lol

I wonder why it didn't sell, was it an ugly duckling? What color is this poor bastard?

Why would a new truck need new tires?

Having a bed divider, and ramps, on a bed that has been line-x'd is kind of idiotic IMO.
It certainly made me remember the issues with the cooled seats, uber-leaky dual glass roof, EPAS pulling stuff (it had goddamn goodyears, blergh), etc, and dont think I want to go through that hassle again.

if it sat for a year i'd be more worried about the gas going bad in the tank than the battery. you'd think the dealer would drive it around the lot at least once in a while to avoid the flat spots and keeping the battery juiced up.

Let's look at it this two ways
1) you buy this 16, all the mods are done you're no longer celebrated on this forum for your discoveries. Jake7 comes back and starts doing all of the discoveries. your friends abandon you and before long your living in that new 16 down by the river in obscurity
2) you trade it in, you don't get what your current truck is really worth you get the 16 that needs tires and could have some other issues for sitting for so long and you aren't happy. Then when the 18s are here you're back at the dealer toying with a trade to start over.
Number 2 is more likely than 1 but hey...
