Default Off-road+Snow Driving

Hi all,

Just wondering how much snow everyone has gone through off-road in their 2015+ trucks. I have a 2015 supercab with 6.5' bed, 4x4, sport package, and FX4 package (3.31 rear locker). Most importantly, I have the optional 275/65R18 Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure with Kevlar tires, that bear a M+S rating. I'm considering making a trip to northern MI in a few weeks to spectate the SnoDrift rally race and would be doing some driving on un-plowed dirt roads to get to a family hunting cabin. Should I expect to be able to handle snow up to the ~10" ground clearance on flat roads if I use 4-low, lock the rear diff, and just keep moving? I have some off-roading experience, just not in this truck, and not in the snow.

I know there are a lot of factors at play, such as ice, snow consistency, etc, but what has been your experience with deep snow off-road? Thanks!

Today i drove over a 2' snow bank then threw about 6-9" and it drove just fine. Here is a good video showing a similiar truck with the same tires you have.

Those tires on TFLT video suck when the snow turns to slush and ice. Worthless.

I noticed if you don't clean your running boards off from all the snow, it makes it hard to open your door. Happened to me once when we had deep freeze.. The base of the door caves in, to me that was a poor design haha

4 low is for things like rock crawling. On a snow covered road use 4H.

Fresh powder like in the video is not a problem because it pushes out of the way easy. Heavy wet or old crusty snow becomes a problem when your tires dig in and the snow compresses under the bell housing leaving you high centered.

Thanks for the replies! I actually have these tires, which have a more aggressive tread than the tires in the video: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....dClar=SuperCab

Hopefully they serve me well. Should I worry about removing the front air dam if I'm pushing through snow? Don't want to rip it off. I have the (thin) factory skid plates under the truck, since it has the FX4 package.

I have the adventures, 16inches of fresh snow is no problem and will keep you moving in 4hi and difflock no issues there. I got into some 22-24 inch drifts and it was a struggle but doable for short period. Momentum and soft throttle application is key. Overall performs like any other truck with 4x4 and diff lock, 4low is great in deep snow when u are stopped and dont want to start spinning.
