Default Off centered steering wheel

This past sunday i had to make a sudden stop with my truck so i had to kinda slam on my brakes after that my steering wheel ended up off centered . Took it to the dealership and after 4 days being there they said that my rack n pinion is binding and needs to be replaced . Cant understand how slamming on brakes is gonna do that . 2015 screw 4x4 3.5l .
Anybody know anything about this or had this problem ?

I wouldn't worry about it too much. The truth is that sometimes suspension or steering components are defective and break early. If the dealer is fixing it under warranty then I wouldn't worry about it. Just make sure that when they align it after the parts are replaced, that they re-center the wheel. They do not always do this.
