Default OEM Mud Flaps/ Splash Guards

I ordered the full set (front and rear) OEM Mud Flaps theough Amazon this week. They were just over 1/2 the price I would have paid at dealer and were simple to put on. They fit like a glove. Problem is, they have a little lip that looks like it will catch grime, mud, snow, etc, and I'm not sure how yeavy duty they are. They look good and fit perfectly. Anyone have experience with these? I will be off paved roads very rarely. Maybe some dirt and gravel roads, though. I only wanted the splash guards to prevent scratches down the side of my new truck. The fact that they anchor into tge wheel well trim scares me if they rip off or get loaded down with gunk. Are these okay, or are WeatherTech or Husky better? I kept reading where tgere seems to be corrosion of different metals when contacting the aluminum bodies, so went OEM. Wondering if another splash guard might be more heavy duty, though.

I just put the OEM mud flaps on my truck too. I was really satisfied with the fit and finish and they seem heavy duty enough for what I'm dealing with. The only thing I was worried about was the one nut clip in the back where it went over the edge of the box. I put a little piece of tape down first to keep the steel clip from vibrating against the aluminum panel. They included a piece of tape for where the support strap bolted to the box and I used that there. I will probably pull the mud flaps off once a year or so when I do some in-depth cleaning after a trip. Then once the truck gets beat up enough in 3-4 years, I won't care anymore. lol.

I think they will be good. The only thing I've experienced is going through off-road I. Sub zero where the flaps would hit and break due to the severe cold.

Mine went on yesterday. From past experience, if you are going to rip off these mud flaps, you probably are going to hit running boards, tail pipe or any other items hanging anyway.

I used to take my '07 down into some really rough roads outside of Sedona, AZ and southern Utah (and I really miss living in northern Arizona). Never lost the mud flaps, though more than once bounced on the frame rails going over rock. The flaps came through without damage. As for the plastic pins, they are tough to get out so I don't think they will break loose easily.

I was just about the pull the trigger on a set of OEMs from Amazon;
~$85 / 4pc set - Clip-on, Molded style
Then I read a customer comment that they're "light duty". I searched the Ford Accessory site and found that indeed there are "heavy duty" OEMs.
~$85-135 / 2pc set
They are different. They are flat, NOT molded. They look like the Gatorbacks.
They come in a couple styles, stainless bling or plain.
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with them? I'm thinking a set of molded up front and a set of flats with the SS bling in the rear would work out nice(I have the chrome package).

The fastening clips on the OEM molded flaps don't hold up to snow and ice if you live in a cold weather region. Weathertech flaps use screws and locking devices which are more secure and utilize aluminum washers so you don't have the metal/aluminum corrosion issue.

I have the oem ones they held up fine all winter and all the components are rust free they have been caked with slush and ice to the tire and never a problem with them even kicking it off.i had the oem ones on a 99 350 for years and these look about the same quality. If you rip them off somehow there will deffinetly be damage to the truck i doubt that the flaps would just rip off
