Odd Sync 3/nav behavior.
So......my recently purchased new to me 2019 Lariat has had some odd behavior and I wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing it. It had updated to Sync 3.4 version 22200 which is the latest update. Yet I keep getting notified of numerous updates happening. When I would look at the file name it was always a very long line of letters and numbers and seemed to start with the same 4/5 letters/numbers so I assumed it was the same file downloading and installing over and over. Today I called the Ford In Vehicle Technology Team and spoke with then while it was downloading an update. During the discussion she had asked me what my nav version is and I replied to her it's 2.21....which is the latest. Here's the catch...I didn't purchase the latest nav update. After reading to her the complete file name for the download she was able to determine that the file it was downloading it a map update file. Apparently for the map updates there are a total of 15 files that need to be downloaded/installed. While talking to her and after the first file downloaded and installed then I checked for updates. Again it said there was a new update available and it started to download. The new file name had that same prefix as the initial one did but other letters/numbers were different. The odd thing is the map update are not designed to and not supposed to be sent out for Wi-Fi update but my truck seems to be in the middle of downloading them....1 at a time. She talked to others there and they suggested I perform a couple master rests, a module rest and key cycle to stop the updates from happening. I advised her i was going to let it continue downloading the updates and see what happens. I'm going to take a picture of each file name and as long as i don't start seeing repeat file names and it stops then i will hopefully be good to go with the latest map update. If it seems to never end or I start seeing repeated file downloads i will do the rests they suggested. Anyone else experience this behavior with their Sync 3/nav system
I did see same on my 2020 F150 XLT, when I set to auto update it was way behind, I just let it finish all the downloads, no issues NAV was also updated. This took couple of days need to make sure it’s connected to WIfi, kept on checking on the state, turn the car on to continue.
i stil have auto update on, I added shock sensor module and was not seeing consistent alerts on FordPass, also trying to figure out if there’s something I’m missing on security alerts like emails, anyway that’s another story. But that was primary reason I turned on auto updates.
Now
NAV 220
SYNC 3.4.21194
from
NAV 118
SYNC 3.3.4
For the NAV I think numbers are month and year of version release date.
