Default Occasional Non-Starting Issue

I have an issue where sometimes my truck doesn't crank when I turn the key to start. It has been ongoing and sometimes I can go a while (month) with out the issue. This weekend it was about every other time I tried to start the vehicle. I can tell before I turn the key whether it will start because the "P" in the gauge will not be red, it shows white. If I turn the key to the "on" position, shift out of park and back, the "P" will turn red and the truck will start. Sometimes when trying that, the shifter won't shift out of park. In that case, I turn the steering wheel left/right - turn the key back to off - then on and try to shift. Usually, I am able to then shift out of and back into park and start the vehicle. Any ideas what may be going on?

2016 4x4 Supercab 2.7 Eco.

Thanks,
Mike

Sounds like your selector cable may be out of adjustment. You didn't say whether you had floor or column shift so here is both.
