Default An Observation

I was driving my truck on a errand today and the speed limit for most of the trip was 35-45 MPH and this is the easiest, smoothest engine I have ever driven. Just driving it up and down the grades is effortless. You hardly ever have to push it past 2k rpm. I don't find it exciting to drive like the sports car I used to have, but just cruises so nicely. I really enjoy it, it is relaxing to drive.

Yes the ecos low end torque makes them enjoyable. Imagine how the 3.5 is...

I understand how the 3.5 is more powerful, but I have driven both, and don't think I would like it any better or worse (except mpg) as a driver.

The EB engine has a very long range of usable torque. Coming from an F250 7.3 to this lil 3.5 6cyl... I'm totally impressed. Couldn't agree with the OP more.

Very little real world unloaded difference from the 2.7 to the 3.5 right now.

After the rework in 2017, who knows....

I have a 3.5 and was towing about 3k with the bed full + topper @ 70mph on cruise control, under 2k rpm the whole trip, averaged about 16mpg. I was really surprised how easy it moved when I need to speed up quickly too.
