It depends on the price and whether or not the title's branded. Looks like they fixed the issues but ended up buying it back anyway. If it was substantially less than a similar vehicle with clean title, low mileage, and an extended warranty was included, I'd consider it....but I'd probably pass in the end.

I should have given more info. $26,000. ~16,000 miles, remainder of factory warranty, along with the 12m/12K miles bumper to bumper for buy back vehicles. I'm not really worried about the title, I'll drive it till the wheels fall off... Florida truck, i'm in KC.

I'd echo Gopherman's comments. I don't see that as a great deal. Maybe have them cover it under the CPO program? Not a small sum but about $10k more you could get a brand new one and not have the engine in the back of your mind when you drive.

I take that back, I didn't read the whole report the first time, that thing is a lemon!

I'd offer them 23,000 out the door. There is a pretty good chance the guy that bought it paid nowhere near what that sticker says. You could have realistically bought that truck for somewhere in the neighborhood of 33-34,000 with rebates and incentives. With a branded title and 16,000 mile on the clock there is some wiggle room. Run a KBB report for that truck in fair condition and see what the trade in value is. You know that dealership would not have bought it back from corporate unless there was a big upside. It would have went straight to auction.

It's almost the exact same truck I have, although I've never had any issues with mine at all. Tough call, though. Even without the repair/buyback issues, it's a two year old used truck. I didn't check used truck pricing, but I'd think book price for that truck is well above $26,000, so at that asking price it could still be a good deal. Or, it could be an ongoing nightmare.
What's your risk tolerance?

Would you buy a boat with a hole in it? If so, how big must the hole be before you wouldn't get into it?

Like a drain hole or a porthole?

Most importantly if the boat had a hole previously you best be an experienced at patching boat holes, prior to considering becoming the owner.

In all honesty my truck will become a RAV shortly and is a great truck accept for Frozen Locks and Latches if it isn't in a cold weather climate someone will love it. If it continues it's path of not working every winter just imagine how that will feel. So make sure whatever it is that is wrong is something you are comfortable owning or make sure Ford will continue to fix it under warranty and provide an acceptable loaner car while being fixed. That way you get a great deal with add security.

Good luck
