Default Is this normal for tow mirrors?

My truck is a 2017 XL that came factory with 8 pin power adjust mirrors. I recently added OEM tow mirrors that are 22 pin. They have power adjust, heat, turn signals, running lights, puddles and maybe spotlights. I have them all hooked up and working great. I got the 8 pin to 22 pin adapter that has leads for puddle, running lights and spotlights. After running my wire for running lights I noticed that when I hit the cargo light that it activates the puddles as well. This happens in park, reverse and drive. Is this normal tow mirror operation? I think its awesome because when backing up in the dark, it really helps seeing down the side of the truck. Thanks for any insight!

I recall using that feature when I was backing up to pull my boat out of the water at night. My OCD prompted me to go out and check during the day. Puddle lights work in Park, Reverse, Neutral, and Drive with the Cargo Light turned ON. A bonus for everyone since I was not aware they worked in any position other than Park.

Disclaimer: You assume all risk should you attempt to test this theory in Neutral without being in the truck and with your foot depressing the brake.

A bit off topic, but which harness did you use? I bought the tow mirror accessory upgrade that comes with the adapter without the breakout wires. I've seen a few harnesses around, but it'd be nice to order one that is confirmed to work.

I used these and despite other reviews, they worked perfectly and fit like OEM:
