Default Is it normal for the tailgate to drop super slow?

This is a major FWP lol but i have a 2018 lariat and the tail gate takes forever to drop, i know it has the assist and i do have the remote tail gate too but when i open it while standing there i almost have to push it down because it takes so long. Is this normal?

Riptide,

While I haven't timed it, my tail gate takes about 5 seconds.

It's giving you time to stretch so you won't pull a muscle when you're lifting something heavy to put in there.

It's giving you time to take a sip of bear before it completely drops.

Depends if you are parked on a leveled ground or incline/decline

If you are parked on a decline it may not even move...

On leveled ground both my Lariats open in about 4-5s

it also depends on the outside temp. I noticed when 0F outside the tail gate is extremely show. Hydraulic fluid is thicker in the cold weather, what a surprise!
