Morning! New to the forum and bought a used 2016 XLT 2.7 EB with 40K miles.

I've been hearing a rattle, throaty, or almost fan noise along with the throttle at any speed. It is almost like a playing card in spokes sound, but it's with the throttle not overall speed. It happens both in 2H and 4H, and I can't tell if it's a normal noise of the turbo/this engine, or if there's something I need to fix. It does stop when the transmission changes gear. I've been scouring these forums trying to find people with videos of similar noises. I was thinking it may be the wastegate rattle that a lot of people have talked about, but it's constant, not just an intermittent rattle at certain RPMs. I took it to the dealership and without batting an eye, they just agreed and replaced both turbos. I still hear the noise and have been trying to determine if it's just normal or if there's still something wrong. I had a tech ride with me and they said they thought it was "pretty normal engine noise", but it still doesn't' seem right to me.

I can try to get a video of it, myself, but did anyone have this experience and just not be used to a totally normal noise?

Do you have videos of what the truck is supposed to sound like in the cab?

 

I hear a slight V6 growl at parking lot speeds and not much of anything from the engine otherwise.

 

Yeah there's GOT to be something wrong with mine, but I can't figure it out. It will be going to another dealer soon to get checked out by a different tech.

 

Both my 2.7 trucks were/are tomb quiet in the cab, other than some high speed tire noise with the Hankooks.

Drive a few more 2.7 trucks at the dealer for a comparison.

 

Yes mine makes that noise, sounds like something metal hitting a metal fan blade, mine does it at a cold start up and is there at high idle and when its warmed up the noise goes to 50% of course dealer says its normal, Active shutters are working normal, I was suspecting the throttle body, the radiator fan blades are plastic and the noise isn't coming from there, some have said it's noise from the 10 speed transmission.
