No shift indicator on the center console
As anyone else noticed that Ford "forgot" to put a shift position indicator on the center console on the 2015's!!! When I first did a test drive in August I noticed it but figured that since these where pre-production trucks, maybe it will be fixed in the production models. Then I drove a new one at the dealer and it was the same.
My 2013 has a lights that come on next to the shift lever indicating your gear. The 2015 just has the painted numbers. Both models show your shift position in the instrument cluster.
I know I'm nit picking but you notice it more in a truck you have never driven, I still ordered mine and can't wait to get it.

What r you talking about?Do you seriously need more??
Hmmm... I just never look at it. First detent is R, next is N, next is D. As a concession to OCD developed from driving mostly manual transmissions, I occasionally push it forward a little (without pushing the button) to "be sure" it's in D and not S, just like I reach over to touch the shifter in my car occasionally on the highway to reassure myself it's at the right reach for 5th, though I could verify in either vehicle with the tach. I still don't look down at the indicator by the shifter when I do that in the truck, but I'm looking forward to have the more-informative indicator on the dash to play with on the next truck.

When I started this thread I kind of figured that I would get a few people with
nasty replies. It is not that I "need" the console led's nor have I complained that the price has went up. Instead I ran to the dealer and ordered one.
I have a 2013 F150 with center console shift and honestly I don't even know if I look at either display when I shift, I just get in it and go. The only reason I noticed it so quickly is that the first time you are in a new vehicle that you are unfamiliar with you need these indicators and labels more. I don't know anyone who shifts a center console vehicle and naturally looks at the cluster to see what gear they have selected.
Maybe it is just the engineer in me, I notice these things and wonder how the design engineers made such choices. I have made many of these design choices and since I get direct feedback from my customers I usually am scrambling to make it right.
With that said, I love the initiator on the dash telling you what gear your in
on my 2013 and I'm glad to hear that they carried that into the 2015's.
I would not trade that for led's on the console.
