We had the factory nav in our '13 Explorer. I ordered my '15 150 and '16 Explorer without nav based on the experience and the update cost.

Garmin. Simple, reliable, free updates.

Has someone made the factory Nav work on a non Nav truck ?
WTF? You should definitely be able to get navigation on a truck that expensive. My Lariat 501A came with navigation and stickered for 53k.

You can make yours NAV. All you need is a new APIM. It's the part that hooks to the back of the screen. If you get one off eBay, MAKE SURE to get the vin number that it came out of THEN call your local ford dealership and have them pull up a picture of the window sticker from that vin, see if it says "Voice Activated Navigation" as one of the features. If I can take mine from a 4" display to an 8" navigation screen you can make your existing 8" into nav.

I prefer using Google Maps on my Android phone for navigation. I think the OP mentioned there was no network in some of the areas but I never use data with my phone for navigation. I download the maps in advance. Should work for the Iphone users too.
