Default "Nice" Horn

Hi! I'm new to the F150 forums, but not too new to cars/forums. Pleasure to 'meet' y'all. I have a 2017 F150 with some loud angry truck horns. We've probably all seen the below video of the nice secondary horn install in the GTI. It's been in the back of my brain for a long time, and I have been in my house for like 8 weeks now, so here we go!

Disclaimer: This is obviously not a big priority, so it's not gonna be a fast moving project. I added the trailer brake controller a while back and that was fairly easy, so I imagine I'll be digging around there for some nice switched 12V power (perhaps off the lighter plug? We'll see)

I bought this horn for a scooter. It's cute and high pitched compared to the truck, not to mention a bit quieter. I had some JD1912 relays lying around (30A) so I'm gonna use that. Will give me flexibility whenever I find control power for the switch (can be low amperage and key switched easier, though I briefly considered power through the switch).

Here's a quick and dirty wiring diagram on the back of a beer carrier:

Here's the mounting location and where I found to fish the wire through:

oh man the truck is dirty. that's embarrassing.

Figure I have to:
  • finds control power for the switch (very open to suggestions)
  • mount the switch (got the perfect spot)
  • fab up a little mount for the horn itself
  • find a home for the relay
  • wire 'real' power to the horn (I'd like that to be switched, too)
  • vacuum the truck
  • pretty it all up

Lighter plug isn't switched.

Good luck on the project. My horn is a 200 watt dual-tone electronic air horn (with optional white light burst). I guess I'm not nice.
