My new bulb sockets should be arriving this week. I’ll post before, side by side, and after pics of the light output.
As far as a reason to get them, every factory light on my truck is led, except for the license plate lights. I want the bulb color and outputs to match on the whole truck.

Furthermore, if you’re driving through an area with nosy people, the bright plate is easier for them to read and report if they dislike something you’ve done. While the obvious response may be “well don’t do that”, the point remains that bright plate lights are an optional way to attract unwanted attention. The factory lights meet the legal requirement for identification. I wouldn’t spend more money to make myself more identifiable. On a personal level, it’s in your best interests to be a ghost.
