Default New garage toys for truck...

So with my Christmas money, Im going to buy myself the gear, to do my own tire rotations.

I already have a jack and stands picked out, as well as the torque wrench. Havent found the air impact, I want yet, not sure my 5 gall 125 psi compressor will handle one. My compressor is only rated for 2.4 SCFM @ 90 PSI. I remeber a few guys posting pics of rubber coated 1/2 drive sockets, to avoid damage to the rims!

Does anyone have a link to those rubber coated sockets, or the name brand they are? Thanks again....

A decent cordless (or 120v plug in) ½" drive impact would suit your needs much better then an air impact. A small air compressor will really struggle to keep up. Just my two cents. I would highly recommend the Milwaukee cordless impact, but they are kind of pricy. For just tire rotation, nearly any ½" drive impact would work.

So a battery impact like this would do fine? I have had good luck, with this line of cordless tools.

I just got this impact for Christmas. Haven't got to use it yet but it should have zero problem breaking anything loose!

I just got the Ryobi Li-Ion impact (I would make sure it is 1/2 in drive, not the 3/8 at the store) and it is awesome, also good for about 350 ft-lbs. Works like a champ when I went to snows on my car. (Removing only). They also have 2 large batteries for $99 which is basically 2/1 normally. I picked up the inflator tool as well since I don't like filling my air compressor everytime I need to tweak pressure and it works well also.

I have 2 Kobalt micrometer torque wrenches and you can beat their price for what they are (Lowe's)

As for sockets, can't remember the name but if you google 1/2 in impact sockets, they show up towards the top.

A good electric impact will do the job. I like air because i have a nice upright compressor i got at home depot with various air tools. Even have a 3 ton air floor jack a buddy bought for me off the mac tool truck. Hose reel at each end of the garage. Lots of uses for air.

Have you considered just wrapping your (six point of course) socket with electrical tape, duct tape, or gorilla tape? Works for me...

I bought that last month. If you are looking to change tires with it, I suggest buying a different one. It just doesnt have enough torque.

320 ft/lb is not enough to break really stubborn lug nuts off. That Dewalt gun is probably a better choice with up to 700 ft/lb torque

Damn, was hoping to find a good impact gun for 150.00 or less. 200 +, is outta my budget right now.
