Yes its surface rust, but still shouldn't happen on a car that is still on the lot. That looks like my 00' Cherokee for crying out loud and its been through 17 New England winters..

I've seen other trucks on the forum that look like yours, it definitely should be addressed by the dealer, I'd say.

Here's my 17 Lariat. I could have gotten Ruby like yours, but the blue won me over.

Love that blue I got the black because its all they had but I love the blue very sharp!!!

I heard great things about por15 so I used it to repaint my camper frame and it does not stand up well to the elements in my opinion- especially to rock chips. Many chips on frame after only a couple trips (and yes I did follow the procedure very carefully when applying).

Odd,
I did the underside of my lawnmower a few years ago and not a single chip. I use this one in my field and it takes a beating from rocks. It's help up wonderfully.
I wonder if they changed the formula.

Mine had the same problem. I made the dealer fix it and took it to there custom truck shop they use for lifts and other assy and they made it look brand new under there as it should have been.

The rust does vary alot on these trucks. My truck is fine, but this one looks a little rough. Im sure the dealer would take care of it, but the spray can do the job also.

So here's the before and after.

Before - 4 days out from pickup at the dealership...

After - cleaned with scotch brite, degreaser, and rinsed. Painted with Rust Reformer, two or more solid coats. All total about 1.5hrs

It's not 100% perfect because I didn't pull off every bracket or the shocks, but it's 95% better. Now we'll see how well it holds up... I think it's looks pretty decent now and should help the smaller bracket's longevity.

I have a 16 Lariart and I dont see any rust, but I live in Arizona, so dont see the humidity or moist weather that most of you see.
