If you'll be financing this might be a good time to buy. Maybe either way due to low sales numbers and the fact you wont be trading in. Only problem with these cases is insurance companies will pay off the vehicle. If they wont go for more than payoff you'll lose any down payment applied when you bought it. Thanks everyone, I just picked up my dash cam outta the truck and watched the video. Disturbing all over again! Even though it was only the front view, and I was hit from behind. Show I had just come to a stop, and then not much as the camera went flying.

Went to the dealer today to look for a replacement. Found two possible candidates. Race red Lariat, or Magma Red XLT??? Both extended cabs, (no moonroofs though obviously) And the black appearance package, to try to match my (old) truck as much as possible. Neither include every option I want that is currently available, I like the Magma color better, but obviously the Race red lariat has more features. (And costs more... but still within my affordable range)

Just pick your favorite replacement... there are LOTS of options of ADDING a sunroof - and the shops are STARVING for work, so some good deals are to be had.

Happy to hear you're ok. Trucks can be replaced, people can't. As others said you can get an aftermarket sunroof for a decent price. Any good shop will back it with a strong warranty.

 

I saw the first pic before scrolling down and thought... "I don't know... it -might- not be totalled." Then I scrolled further and realized it's probably totalled, ya... I have to say that I am glad you are ok. To have been sandwiched like that, there's no way that dude was standing on the brakes until after impact. He had quite a bit of follow through left when he hit you, and your truck absorbed a lot of energy there.

.... but I'm biased there.

 

Never thought about an aftermarket sunroof....

Just texted my salesman and told him to get the Magma red one here as soon as we have the official word it's totaled from the insurance company.

Decided on that one, as it was the closest replacement to mine options wise, and I liked the color better. Mine was an XLT, so I won't "miss" the Lariat features that I never had. Yes it woulda been nice, but had to be sensible, The new truck will actually be 6 bucks a month cheaper. I'm saving money! HAHA Maybe next one I'll step up. Not a huge fan of leather anyway, so XLT is better fitting.

Still sore, but things are starting to look up now...

Make sure you save the video from the dashcam. It's not as critical to have a video of the at fault vehicle, as you have the video of what you were doing at the time of the impact. It shows you were stationary, and why you were stopped.
