Yeah...the threat is much greater with a manual. Maybe that's what he meant.

The new engine came in yesterday so I should have my truck back by the end of next week.

Wow! That seems like a really quick turnaround (I thought they were all on backorder for some reason). Good luck with the next one.

The entire staff at the dealership has been great. My truck broke down while I was staying at a campground and the loaner didn't have a brake controller so they swapped it out for one of the salesman's demo that had a brake controller for a day so that I could bring my camper home. By rights when they found out that my truck needed a new engine they could have taken my loaner back and put me in a rental, but none of the rental places had a truck to rent so the owner let me keep the loaner when I told him that it was easier for me to get into a truck than into a car because of my knees.

Wow I'm so sorry for your troubles. That's too early for a coyote engine to bite the dust. My screw 6.5 bed has the 5.0 also and it was built on 3/16/18 and I only have 780 miles on the clock since I bought it on 4/4/18. So far so good. Now I'm worried about mine now. I hope nothing happens to it since I'm a V8 guy. I know mechanical things can break but that's way too early for an engine to take a deal. To be honest if mine goes that early, I'll trade it in after it gets fixed. I hope yoy get your truck back very soon. Sounds like your dealer is being very good to you. When was your truck built?

Sorry if you mentioned it already, but care to share which dealership this is? If nearby I'll definitely go to them as it sounds like they know how to treat a customer good.
