Default Need info on Fordpass !!!

I have a 2018 XLT and I’m trying to figure out this whole Fordpass / smartlink thing. I downloaded the app and added my truck , but I don’t see any opinions to lock/ unlock or remote start. I keep reading about these features and it come with 5 years activation. I’m about to drop $800 on a viper alarm , but love to save that money if I could get these ford pass to work.

You need Sync Connect. Without that, no remote start or lock / unlock.

Is your phone older or not updated to a newer OS? Your phone may not be compatible or maybe it's installing an older version. Also try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Make sure you are hooked up to sync with your phone and truck. It will ask/confirm permissions .

On my 18 sync connect was a stand alone option.

I'm not sure if it was that way for all of '18 though.

For ‘18 it was still an option. My Lariat doesn’t have it, despite the dealer telling me it did. One year later and they still “we owe” this.

It can be added, but involves buying a module, an antenna, a conversion harness, and making a bunch of changes in Forscan to get it to work.

Hello all. I'm new to this forum. We just bought a 2020 F150/3.5 Eco Boost/Fx4/XLT/tow pkg and I have the same question as the OP. My husband has an older IOS, I think iphone6 and I have android, will either of these work with the Ford Pass? I've downloaded the app but haven't done anything with the Sync yet. Confusing.

Also on another note...we bought this truck to tow a 5500lb TT. Now we are second guessing ourselves. We haven't got the TT yet but fingers crossed it will tow it. I'll also post in another thread for this question.

Thanks in advance.

Your dealer is supposed to setup FordPass for you. That's part of SERVICE.

FordPass is in both stores (Apple and Google Play). No idea if the Apple phone is too old.

Read here - https://owner.ford.com/fordpass.html

As for towing, there is a towing section of the forum, https://www.f150forum.com/f82. Many threads discuss this. You need the payload from your yellow doorjamb sticker. Then there are calculations to do, explained in many threads. Read some there, then start a thread if you have further questions. In short, a 5,500 pound travel trailer will be no problem, but you'll need a weight distribution hitch. If the trailer is 5,500 pounds empty, and you put 1,500 pounds of stuff in it, and you load 4 200 pound adults in your truck, that may be a problem. 7,000 pounds is 910 pounds of tongue weight, plus 100 for the WDH, is 1,010 pounds of your payload. Plus 800 pounds of adults would be 1,810 pounds of payload needed. So, it depends.

Thank you for all that info..much appreciated. I'll take a look at the links you included.

One other question...how do you actually know how much everything weighs once all loaded? Are you able to pull into the weigh stations where the semi's go? Thanks!
