Need help
I was on this forum about a yr or so ago and it was really helpful. I had to cancel my purchase of a Lariat because I lost my job and have now found a new job with better pay. I am in the market again for a new truck. While I was home, I contract work in Afghanistan, I test drove the F150 and Ram Rebel. And I know this is a Ford forum so I will get the "Ford is better", or "Pick the Ford" on a lot of the replies. The one thing I love about the ford is the room in the back. I took my 2 daughters with me and they were able to move about freely, unlike my wife's silverado. They also liked the rebel, mainly because of the seat pattern and some other stuff, but I noticed there isnt that much room in the back. While the rebel is a little bit cheaper, on the builds I did, I had the F150 top at 60k and the ram at 55k. Should I pull the trigger for the extra room in the back and more options for mods since the ram has the air suspension?
Thanks,
Blake

I had actually considered RAM before I bought my f150 on new years. I know they are branded under their own these day from dodge, but dodge I've found pretty reliable and decent overall across different models. Worst parts from what I see a lot of is the amount of rusting that occurred on some older models. Lots things changed though. Air suspension/ 8 speed automatic a handful of differences, Very close in features between ford & RAM, each their own unique things. Rebel truck I believe has some upgrades for offroad capabilities. So there is some bonuses to RAM.
In the end I went with ford mainly gas mileage *2.7L* great at drivethrus waiting for food with the start/stop technology. Also prefer aluminum body for long term, hoping its more resilient to corrosion vs. rust. Haven't seen issues with all the manufacturers using aluminum hoods, maybe paint adhesion to aluminum can be an issue, but thats about it.
To be on point with your concerns with space, I love the amount of space I get in the crew cab. I can get two weeks of groceries/supplies for 3 people in behind the front seats. For comparison I would have filled my ford ranger 6ft bed and filled the behind the front seats with extended cab portion. Or our plymouth neon much the same as dodge neon I previously owned, fills the entire trunk plus the back seat in the neon. Also the space in the back passengers I have had with me mentioned the amount of space there is in the back. One comment "wow, a ton of space here, more than most cars I've sat in, maybe more than most front seats even." something about like that they said -surprising for a crew cab to most, including myself when I got the truck.
Anycase Rebel would probably be more off road, does have similar add ons like fords fx4 package. Not sure its as competitive as the ford raptor, from what I've read seems like a cross between raptor and fords fx4 package.
Hemi vs turbos, maybe something to think about- turbos are very fun (sport mode), Hemi- not much needs said for reputation though.
Course like all manufacturers nothing runs perfect out of the box 1st time all the time. Just hope you get the one that works good and is what you want.

I had a Ram before this truck and I'd go back in a heartbeat. Never got into the hype of the Rebel though, I'd chose a Raptor any day over the Rebel. But truck to truck, my Ram blew my F150 out of the water in gas mileage, power, options for price, ride, and overall workmanship. That said, I have been looking at Rams again already, but using their timeline they will probably be redoing the body very soon.
