For starters, their website only lists thru 2019 as compatible, so I would reach out to them to check if it'll even work on a 2020 before diving in any further. While I have not used a device of this nature in person, my research has shown that these devices appear to be a cat and mouse game of needing a firmware update every time you update the head unit (Sync) itself, until the company either stops supporting the device or goes out of business, at which point you either stop updating Sync or have a $300 interface brick.
It allows you to show your phone screen on your truck's screen. For instance if you have Android auto on your phone you can use this app whether you're in your vehicle or not. The Android Auto app on your phone will display music, directions and phone call info as well as messages. If you "mirror" it on your vehicle screen, it is almost like having Android Auto except that you can't use your vehicle to control the mirrored images except for volume (although in some cases you can actually control activity without touching the phone). Mirroring allows you to keep your OEM radio set up intact.
