Default My Key Issue

I have been searching the forum and google for the answer. Someone let me know if this is the right answer...

My Admin key has been misplaced, the second key is a My Key and sucks...

To clear the key, I have to reprogram the module that controls My Key (BCM?) with as build data using forscan...

I've done some basic stuff with forscan before but Is that my only option? Please tell me there is a easier way

No, reloading the as built data will not clear the my key. I have seen some report that they modified the as built data to disable some of the mykey limitations, but the mykey is still technically active.

Officially, mykey is eliminated by clearing the keys from the vehicle and reprogramming 2 keys. Forscan will not do this function.

I have seen a workaround. Try this: https://forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11739. Specifically, look at the 7 step workaround at the bottom of the first post.

Thank you! I'll try that and let you know.

My key sucks! I tried disabling it with Forscan in the asbuilt and easy mode, both said it was disabled but the speed limiter was still set at 80. The only way to revert is with both keys.

So, I just got around to trying the last method on the post. After covering the key with foil, I was able to turn it and get to the menu, but the mykey option wasn't shown so I couldn't reset it. I found a local key programming guy that said he can program a new key as admin. We'll see.

I just tried this method on my '18 and was able to clear mykey with only the limited key. Two important parts for this procedure to work. 1. Don't open the door between the steps of turning car off and turning back on. 2. You need to act quickly between turning the car off and back on. You have about 5 seconds. Here is the full procedure. I think this works because during the KOER test, the modules do a quick reset. Both my IC and radio turned off for a split second during the test. Then, when you turn the key off and on quickly, there is a grace period allowed by the car where it will restart without seeing a valid transponder. This is stock behavior. The vehicle must be in a state where it doesn't know what key you are using and the associated restrictions, because of what happened during the KOER test. The mykey menu was fully accessible after this and I was able to choose the option to clear mykeys.

1. Start the car and connect to it with FORScan.
2 Start PCM KOER test (Tests->PCM Key On Engine Running On Demand Self Test)
3. Wait until the test is completed
4. Remove keyfob from the car in case of keyless system (with engine start button). In case of standard blade key, you have to block the transponder (for example, wrap the keyfob with a foil).
5. Stop the engine (turn the ignition off)
6. Turn the ignition On but don't run the engine.
7. Go to MyKey menu in your instrument cluster and execute Clear MyKeys option.
