Default My Key

When I bought my truck the salesman made the My Key feature seem like it was some BFD.

Seems like its only use is monitor or restrict another driver. If I'm not doing that, there's no reason to do anything with it. Correct?

Am I missing something?

How many are programmed?

It's basically a parental lock for delinquent kids or concerned bosses.

If your in charged then I wouldn't worry about it.

The other reason is a spouse or someone else that will drive your truck. My wife and I use this. All the seats, mirrors (and on her Mazda radio stuff) is programmed to the key. So when I unlock the truck and get in, everything is to my liking and I am not hitting my nuts on the steering wheel when I get into my truck after she has driven it.

Not exactly. MyKey has nothing to do with memory settings. Memory Feature, if your vehicle is so equipped, is tied to the key transmitter, so when you hit the unlock button it sets your settings on the vehicle (driver seat, power mirrors, steering column, power pedals).

MyKey programs speed limits, speed minders, audio maximum level.

FYI- when you program your vehicle, i.e. seats, mirrors, steering wheel we all know you hold down whatever memory position you want (1,2,3) until you hear a beep to store it. However, to program those settings to a particular FOB you need to go another step. Adjust your settings, then hold down the Memory 1 (2 or 3 depending on how you rank in your household). You'll hear a beep. Keep holding until you hear a second beep. Press the "Lock" button on the FOB within 5 seconds of that second beep to program the settings to your FOB. This will tie those settings to memory 1 on your FOB. If your wife, significant other, brother-in-law, cousin Randy, whoever- uses the Memory 2 position on the second FOB, they can do the same thing.

MyKey has so much untapped potential ford isnt using.

When I had my '12 Mustang GT, the LOWEST max speed you could program was 80. I wanted a valet version, where I could limit the speed to 25mph, but alas, no go.
